Understanding Medical Negligence and Malpractice

Medical negligence or medical malpractice is an umbrella terms that encapsulates a great variety of cases involving healthcare facilities and professionals.

Medical malpractice cases include, but are not limited to:

  • failure to diagnose a disease in a timely manner
  • incorrect or inadequate treatment plans
  • anesthesia misadventures
  • wrong-sided procedures
  • surgical errors
  • medication dosing errors

If one of the foregoing results in catastrophic damage or death to an individual, there is potentially a medical negligence case.

In all cases where an injury or death is unexpected following medical care, it is wise to have an experienced medical malpractice lawyer review the case. While many times there is not negligence, just unfortunate outcomes, you want to ensure a chance at justice if the situation is the latter.

If there is a death, an autopsy should be sought or insisted upon if not done or recommended to be done by the healthcare provider.
